Why Brooklands to Monaco?

The idea of cycling from Brooklands Museum to Monaco came about 2 years ago.
Kelvin Govus, a keen amature cyclist, had been visiting Brooklands Museum as part of his working day when thinking to himself about the history it held, and realising that he was standing at the home of British Motorsport.

Brooklands Museum not only has a great collection of historic motorsport memorabilia and aircraft, but also a great display of bicycles. The display ranges from a Penny Farthing to Bruce Burseford's record breaking bike (as shown below).

So it seemed apt to use this location as the starting point for " The ride of a life time".  It was also decided that a fitting place to finish the cycle ride that had now been planed to start from Brooklands Museum would be the iconic motorsport circuit on the F1 calander, Monaco.

Now the start and finish had been agreed it was time to start the organising.
Kelvin had put the word out to see who would be intrested in taking part and also getting ideas from people that had taken part in long distant rides, with alot of helpfull feed back from visiting the London Bike Show.

There has been a lot more planning invoved then first thought.  From the route itself aswell as ferries, hotels, support vehicles, equipment, spares and the flights home for all 13 people taking part.
This all quickly became a headache with ferries not being able to take big groups of cyclists and hotels not having enough rooms, which meant having to change the route to accommodate these issues.

Slowly things seemed to come together with some help from Stuart Unwin, who has helped with organising the charity pages, the blog page, and also organising a sponsor (Consero London), who have payed for the great team shirts we have designed.  Also Chris Bradley, owner operator of CB UK EURO, who without hesitation offered his services to be our support driver using his own time and vehicle for our 12 day adventure.

All we have to do now is get there!
